At the UK HITSS 2005 (Helpdesk and IT Support Show), EMC Infra will be demonstrating the IT Service Management solution - Infra - that has been described as an "ideal global service desk solution" in a recent vendor analysis conducted by the Help Desk Institute (HDI).

EMC Infra's European General Manager, Simon Nugent explains "Infra's fully web-based architecture and advanced timezoning and partitioning functionality are the key features contributing towards its strength as a global enterprise solution".

According to HDI's report, Infra "enables a consistent service to be provided globally with minimal investment overhead." The report adds, "The genuine thinness of the application allows for great scalability and the provision for global support and use within distributed or locked down environments".

As an example of the application's use within a distributed environment, Infra cites its implementation in one of the world's largest oil and gas condensate fields in Kazakhstan in Central Asia - currently the biggest internationally funded project in the country. The operator of the fields, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO), has implemented Infra to manage all its Configuration Management and IT related service desk calls. As the support is provided across multiple sites in an area covering 280 square kilometres, the web-based architecture of Infra was vital to the success of the project.

Since its release, Infra has seen a strong uptake in local and international markets, contributing towards a year of record growth for Infra's UK and European offices. Within the UK, Infra is used across a range of sectors, including Technology, Finance and Government.

Infra will be demonstrating Infra at Stand 342 at HITSS - the Helpdesk and IT Support Show 2005. Visitors to the stand will also have the opportunity to win an "Infra orange" iPOD.
