The web-based service management tool, infraEnterprise, has been selected to support the management of all IT systems and infrastructure for Brussels Airport. The application, developed by Infra Corporation, has been purchased by the Belgian subsidiary swITch, which provides all IT services for the airport.

All incidents and problems occurring in the airport's IT infrastructure and support will be logged and tracked through the infraEnterprise system, giving swITch central visibility of the status of its IT network. infraEnterprise will be integrated with the Tivoli systems management tool to support automated logging of errors.

infraEnterprise will also be used as the central repository of asset data across the airport, estimated by swITch to comprise some three million individual items.

Initially implemented in swITch's internal IT help desk, the company will extend the use of infraEnterprise in early 2004 as part of a plan to improve IT support and security by combining the airport's numerous help desks into one. These include help desks for flight information displays, baggage handling, public announcement systems, internal networks and customer service.

As swITch resells its technology and professional services to airports around the world, the Brussels implementation represents an opportunity for Infra Corporation to expand its presence in the international aviation industry, according to Infra Product Manager, Morag Brown. "infraEnterprise gives swITch the ability to provide a fast, foolproof turnaround of problems in an industry heavily reliant on IT for security and customer service," says Brown.
